New project attempt!

I hope you are having a great Saturday. Our weather here in Arizona is in the low 70's and sunny. Sorry, I don't mean to rub it in, but this kind of weather in January is why we live here! We all lived somewhere else and don't want to deal with the terrible winters anymore. I always say....."You don't have to shovel sunshine!"

Anyway, today I went to a Sewing, Quilt and Craft show with some good friends of mine (that I only see once a year for this show) and I stopped by a booth that was selling personalized photo mats. They were made of some type of lightweight wood, and were almost $18. I thought to myself, I can make that with my Cricut Expression and Gypsy! When I got home, I started trying to weld together a mat shape and then welded the letters to the bottom. I think it looks quite close to what the wood ones looked like.

Let me know what you think! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Big Announcement!! I am a Featured Artist!!

I know, can you believe it??!! I submitted my Martini Glass card (now appropriately renamed to my "Scrappy Hour" card) to the Cricut For Beginners website and have been chosen to be this weeks Featured Artist!

Their website is: http://www.cricutforbeginners.com/

Stop by and check out their website. It has tips and tricks for the new user as well as highlighting projects that they have found on other blogs. It also has a short clip of their Cricut for Beginners DVD. This DVD is very informative, even if you are not a beginner. I watched part of it and learned another trick to use when assembling my cut pieces. Thanks to them for putting the DVD together and sharing it with the rest of us!

Thanks for stopping and hope everyone has a great week!

Valentine's cards

Here are a few Valentine's cards that I made last weekend when I got together with the girls for a Scrap Day. We get together once a month and we rotate who hosts the crop. Thanks Linda for hosting this month! I had a great time.

Anyway, I made a few cards. Very simple Valentine's cards. On the last one, I wanted to use some new animal print paper that I bought. I found "Wild Thing" on one of the Cricut cartridges. I didn't like how "blocky" it looked so I set it up in my Gypsy and took off the aspect ratio and made the cut taller that it was supposed to be but as long as I needed it. I am learning more and more on the Gypsy and friends are asking me to teach them what I know about it. Who knew!!

Hope you enjoy the cards. I will have an exciting announcement next week. Stay tuned!!
Have a great weekend!

Serenity Scrappers - Red / Gold / Brads

Here is my entry for the Serenity Scrappers challenge of using Red/Gold/3 brads. This was a real challenge for me to just stick with 2 colors. I always want to have more! Let me know what you think.

Happy Friday everyone! Have a great weekend.

Flaunt It Fridays #6 - Hello Kitty Greetings Airplane

Here is my entry for the Flaunt It Fridays #6 using the Hello Kitty Greetings with Airplane from page 65 of the handbook. I decided to make it a vacation card (kind of like a Bon Voyage card but for a plane trip instead of a cruise).

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Snow!!

I know that Arizona doesn't get alot of snow, but we do get some up in the northern part of the state. Having grown up in Wisconsin, I know what snow is (and what you have to do in order to live in it and drive in it!), and I prefer to live in Sunny Arizona and go up North to visit the snow, play in it and come back home to temperatures in the 60s and 70s!

Anyway, I made this "Snow" card and am entering it in to the following challenges:

Made By Momo - Snow/Winter theme

Paper Cutz Challenge - Using metal (brads, eyelets, wire)

My Sheri Crafts - Winter

Hope you like the card. Let me know what you think.

Happy Tuesday!!

Paper Cutz Challenge #72

Here is my entry for Paper Cutz Challenge #72. For this challenge, make a card, LO or craft project for New Year's using a banner and any colors you'd like. This was kind of new to me as I have never tried to use a banner on a card before. I think it turned out okay! Let me know what you think.

The banner and "celebrate" are from the Martha Stewart All Occasions Cake art cartridge and the printed paper is from the DCWV Hippie Chic Matstack. Black paper is from Joann's. Then I just faux stitched the edges with a glitter pen.

Happy New Year to everyone!

Flaunt It Fridays #5 - FMK Martini

Here is my entry for the Flaunt It Fridays #5 using the From My Kitchen Cricut cartridge and the martini on page 60. I decided to add something a little different to it and used one of the cuts from the Rock Princess cartridge as well. Then, of course, I blinged it up a bit!

I hope you like it. I had fun making this one because it was the first time that I had to try and layer another full cut under another one to make it look three-dimensional.

Have a super day!

My Sheri Crafts #38 Challenge - New Years

Here is my entry for My Sheri Crafts Challenge #38 - New Years!

I hope you like it. I have decided that one thing I have to do in the new year is to enter more challenges. So I might as well start with one that the subject is "New Years".

Thanks. Have a great day!
