Sizzix week at Paper Vineyard

Okay, so our topic this week for the Paper Vineyard Design Team was to use ONLY Sizzix die cut/embossing products. THIS WAS VERY HARD FOR ME!! I am a Cricut girl and found it very difficult not to go to my Cricut for shapes/letters etc to do my project.

So, here is what I came up with. I didn't actually use any die cuts on this 12x12 scrapbook page. I used the Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations embossing folders of the King/Queen/Jack cards, embossing them on lightweight metal from QuicKuts. I then used my Sharpie markers to highlight the embossed areas. The Keno balls and the dice were hand cut. The pictures were from a trip to Las Vegas that my husband and I made a few years ago.

Here is a close up of the embossed lightweight metal.

Hope you like it! Have a great week!

Paper Vineyard - SEI White Elegance

Hello all,

This week we were challenged to use the White Elegance line from SEI for a wedding themed project. I have been having such a good time making the nameplates, that I decided to use one for this project.

I made the nameplate base from white chipboard (thanks to Christina at Creations with Christina for the tutorial) so that you saw only white on the inside. I covered the outside with one of the paper designs from the White Elegance Paper Pad. I also used another design from the pad to cover the edges. The lace with the pearls was from Michaels, the silver flowers are Prima, the glittered flower underneath the silver ones was Color Me Crazy from Petaloo that I sprayed with Tattered Angels Granite Glimmer Mist. The "Love" was cut with the Cricut Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art cartridge from a third design from the paper pad and the shadow was from a scrap of silver pearlescent paper I had in my stash. The pearls and the pearl brad are also from SEI.

I hope you like it. Let me know what you think. Have a great week!

Paper Vineyard - Anna Griffin products

Our task this week for the Paper Vineyard Design Team was to use Anna Griffin products. My problem was that her papers are SOOO beautiful, I found it hard to do them justice. It took me a while, but after going through some pictures from my wedding (I married the most wonderful man almost 12 years ago), I found the perfect picture to use. This is a shot of us getting into the limo on our way to the reception. I printed it in black and white to match the paper. All the paper used on this 12x12 layout is from Anna Griffin. I also used some black Prima "bling". The words were cut on my Cricut Expression using the Paper Lace cartridge. I LOVE that cartridge.

Have a great rest of the week!

Centerpiece for a birthday party

Hello everyone, Happy Monday!

I wanted to share a centerpiece I made for a birthday party for an 11 year old. she loves yellow and I made these rosettes using the Tim Holtz die from Sizzix and 3 different yellow printed papers. I also used some Peachy Keen face stamps as well as some other stamps from my stash!
Also, we made crafts at the party and I taught the girls how to make a nameplate for their desks. Thanks to Creations with Christina for the tutorial on how to make the base of the nameplates. Her tutorial used crackle paint but since I didn't have that kind of time (to let the paint dry, etc.), I covered the nameplates with paper and put a strip over the corners to cover them. I let each girl pick out her papers, flowers, and bling. Here is how they turned out. I love how different they all are and what each girl brought to the table. They all did a great job! Thanks for looking. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think. Have a great week!

I just got a Cricut-tastic Award!

Hi all,

Susan over at Cricut for Beginners just sent me an award -

The Cricut-tastic Award!!

This is such an honor coming from Susan and the Cricut for Beginners team. Thank you!

Part of receiving the award it to tell you 5 Cricut things about myself... Here goes!

1. I originally learned about the Cricut watching a late-night infomercial (just like Susan and probably most of us)!

2. I own a Baby Bug, 2 Expressions, and the gypsy (and am considering the E2).

3. I have been using them for about 4 years now.

4. I use some cut from my Cricut in just about every project that I make.

5. I bought my second Expression because my original one was making strange noises and I just couldn't imagine life without a Cricut machine.

Now, I need to forward this award on to 10 other Cricut users who really deserve this. Check out their blogs and see their creations. These ladies are awesome!

Paper Vineyard Yankee Doodles project

Hello all,

Sorry I have been MIA for a while. I have no good excuse other than I was having issues with my camera and it took me some time to get that fixed. All fixed now though.

This week, the design team for Paper Vineyard Scrapbook Store was tasked with making a project using patriotic items from the Yankee Doodles line from We R Memory Keepers. I had some wood blocks that I have purchased from Stampin Up quite a while ago and this seemed like the perfect theme to make a project using them.I used the Yankee Doodles paper on each of the blocks, cut the letters with the Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art Cricut cartridge, punched stars with my Mini Star punch from Creative Memories, glued them using my Xyron 850 and sealed it all with Mod Podge Satin. There are words using all 6 sides of the blocks. Please let me know what you think. I love hearing what other crafty people think! I hope everyone has a great week.

Tim Holtz Inspired project for Paper Vineyard

Hi Everyone,

This weeks project for Paper Vineyard scrapbook store was to make a Tim Holtz inspired project. Since Tim's style and products are all distress/vintage items, I decided to make a printers tray showcasing a few photos of my husband's family. I have never made a totally vintage project before so this was a bit out of my comfort zone. But I do like the way it turned out. And so does my husband. He now says we have to take it with us when we go back to Pennsylvania to visit so the rest of the family can see it too!
This is a close up of where I used the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher to staple the ribbon and paper.
Let me know what you think. I hope everyone has a great week!

"Peeps" Easter Project for Paper Vineyard

Hi Everyone,

Our project this week was to make an Easter project using the Peeps paper from We R Memory Keepers. I was at a retreat all weekend and all the supplies I had with me were paper and a few embellishments. So I kind of was forced into making a scrapbook page instead of a home dec project as I had originally planned. What you probably can't see in the picture, is that the little tails on the bunnies that run across the page are flocked. It is sooo cute and add a ton of dimension.
Let me know what you think. The Peeps paper line is available at Paper Vineyard along with tons of others. They have the greatest selection of scrapbook supplies. Check them out. Also check out the store blog here to check out the designs from the rest of the design team. They are awesome!

Thanks. I hope everyone has a great week!

Scrapbook Retreat in Flagstaff, Arizona

Hi Everyone,

I spent last weekend at a scrapbook retreat in Flagstaff, Arizona. It is about a 2 hour drive north of Phoenix. We drove up on Friday afternoon and the weather was a bit cloudy, but no rain or snow. We had heard that Flagstaff was supposed to get some snow during the weekend, but imagine our surprise when we woke up and found A LOT of snow had fallen overnight.
We had one lady who had never seen it snow before. Needless to say, she went out and played in it for quite a while! It was beautiful. By the time we were getting ready to go back home on Sunday afternoon, it had already started to melt.

We all had a great time at the retreat. I didn't get a lot done, but I have a great time visiting and checking out everyone's projects. It is always fun to get away with friends and "scrap" the weekend away.

Paper Vinyard DT - Alcohol Inks

Hello everyone,

This weeks "assignment" was to work with Alcohol Inks. To tell you the truth, this is one thing that I have never tried before. It is pretty cool but I have a lot more to learn about using them. We were supposed to make a altered/distressed item using the inks, but I didn't have anything that I could alter/distress. So I went to what I know best, making a card using them. The recipe for this card is:
Cardstock - Joanns
White Gloss Paper - Inkssentials
Alcohol Inks - Tim Holtz Adirondack Inks in Sail Boat Blue and Citrus
Flowers - Prima sprayed with Pearl Glimmer Mist
Brads - from my stash
"Thank you" stamp - from the $1 bin at Michaels

Remember, this is my first try with the inks so keep checking back, because I KNOW I will be making more projects using them! Thank you for visiting my blog and don't forget to check out the Paper Vineyard blog to see the projects from the rest of the team.

Have a great week!

Paper Vineyard Design Team "Let's go to the Circus!"

So the theme this week for the Paper Vineyard Design Team is
"Let's go to the Circus!"
And we were challenged to use Graphic 45 products. Well, that part was easy! Graphic 45 has a whole line of paper called Le Cirque Collection. May I say "AWESOME!"
Here is the tag that I made. I used Cricut Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge to cut out the tag and then I covered it with the Graphic 45 paper. Then, I used another one of their papers that looks like it has stamps all over it, cut them apart and layered them to give dimension. The Circus Spectacular ticket was cut from another paper from this same line. I added buttons with embroidery floss (from Michaels), and some ribbon. I attached the ribbon with my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher. Awesome tool by the way. I got it at Paper Vineyard on competitor coupon day. The store honors Michaels, Joanns, and Hobby Lobby coupons on the first and third Friday of the month (April 1st and 15th). Cool, huh?!

Stop in the store sometime. They have some great stuff in there that you don't find at the big, box stores. And remember to take advantage of their competitor coupon day.

Have a great week!

Ribbon - Michaels
Cuttlebug - Swiss Dots embossing folder
Cricut cuts - Paper Lace cartridge
(Also used the Gypsy to make the image more tall than wide to fit A2 card)

"Worth a Million Bucks!"

Hello All,

Well, this weeks theme for the Paper Vineyard Design Team was "Worth a Million Bucks" using My Minds Eye products. Can I say that I LOVE My Minds Eye....all their collections are awesome. My project this week is definitely worth a million bucks! What a special page this is. These are pictures of my sister and I when we were little (I am the big sister). Unfortunately we lost her in a car accident back in 1980 at the age of 19. This is the reason for the angel in the lower right corner above the small flowers. She is our angel, watching over us.

UPDATE: I framed this page and gave it to my Mom because when she saw it on my blog, she said she wanted a copy to frame. I told her NO and surprised her with the original. She cried and now said she has to find a "prominent" place on her wall for it! I am so happy she liked it.

The recipe for this 12x12 scrapbook page:
Printed cardstock - Stella & Rose by My Mind's Eye
Solid cardstock - Bazzill
Flowers - Prima
Ink - Colorbox Chestnut Roan chalk ink
Cricut cuts:
Lacy Labels - label background
Stone Script - Sisters (welded letters with Gypsy)
When It's Cold Outside - small angel (cut from an Angel snowflake)

I hope you all enjoy this layout. I haven't done too many layouts lately so I hope I did you all proud with my design.

I almost forgot to tell you!!! I went to a class at Paper Vineyard over last weekend and had a blast! We made a 8x8 mini book about "us". It is sooooo cool. Dana is an awesome teacher. I think I am going to love taking more classes at the store. Check out their list of classes on their website HERE. I already have another one scheduled for this coming Saturday!

I hope everyone has a great week! I know I will!

Exciting News!!!

Hello all,

I have such exciting news! I have been asked to join the design team for Paper Vineyard, a local scrapbook store. It is the coolest store! It is in Chandler, AZ on Alma School Rd between Ray Rd and Chandler Blvd. They carry the best papers, tools, embellishments, etc. You can find things here that the big box stores just don't carry. All those things that you have seen from the CHA postings on the web. Well, they are already getting some of those items in. They had a Make and Take last night and I went in and made the cutest tone on tone card. And got to use some new products that I was not familiar with. Be careful though, they are enablers!!!

So, today is my first project for the design team. It was "Tag You're It!". Make a tag using Teresa Collins paper and Blingage. Well, I have never made a tag before so this was quite the challenge for me.The recipe for the card is:
Paper and bling - Teresa Collins (paper from the Posh line)
Die cut (Girls Rock) - Cricut Rock Princess cartridge
Wings - Tim Holtz grungeboard with silver/black inking
Flowers - Prima Essentials
Ribbon - can't remember who makes it!

Hope you like it. Let me know what you think. Don't forget to check out the blog and website for Paper Vineyard. They offer some great classes and have the best supplies in the world! Have a great week!
